According to a Forbes article, September 4, 2006,
"Nearly one-third of American adults are overweight, and another third are technically
obese."
Our weekly menus are designed to
negate binge days like holidays, family parties, or special events. We factor
federal holidays into the weekly goal and results so there is no impact. We all have
binge days other than holidays, like weddings, office parties, birthdays, reunions,
and so on. So, we also have a special one-day 1200 calorie menu for binge recovery
that you can use whenever you need to. You really need to try these menus!
Without the right tools, it's almost impossible to
create a balanced menu each week. We use computer software to analyze recipes
for nutritional value, published Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) a.k.a. DRI, and
an electronic spreadsheet that helps evaluate weekly results.
If you don't have access to tools like that,
there is no way you can consistently create a nutritional menu to live by. It's
easy to control calories. What proved to be very challenging was to ensure meals
provided sufficient calcium, fiber, iron, and other recommended ingredients while
staying within cholesterol, fat and sodium guidelines.
Even with automated tools, it still takes many hours each week to create a
one-week menu. Most people don't spend that kind of time planning what to eat - and
that's why so many are continually fighting weight and health issues.
Our menus are created with emphasis on ensuring a
nutrionally balanced regimen to support longevity, meeting our fiber requirements,
and minor weight loss over time. Some menu regimens advocated by others help rapid
short-term weight loss, BUT generally did not meet
the required fiber, calcium, or other nutritional requirements.
Our menus provide or exceed the recommended fiber, calcium, and other nutrional needs on a weekly basis.
If you want to lose weight, you need to reduce the amount of calories you consume,
increase your physical activity, or both. You can lose one pound per week if you
reduce your consumption of calories by 500 calories per day. The average calorie
consumption for an adult is 2,000 calories per day. The menus we're currently placing
on the site are for 1,600 calories per day.
So, if you wish to lose weight, use our menus and sometime during the day, go for
a 20-minute walk. If you want to lose weight faster, go for a 20-minute walk twice
each day. If you are unable to walk, do some isometric exercises.
